Tigerlily Nectarbird
Bibinectarium lilium
This bird, one of the smallest of the nectarbirds, makes up for its lack of size with its brazen courage and vibrant plumage.
It can be quite aggressive and very protective of the lilies on which it feeds. Though unconfirmed, there have been reports of gardeners attempting to cut a few tigerlilies for a vase and being terribly bitten by one of these little birds.
Other nectarbirds tend to avoid this loud bird, including the shy Lilac Nectarbird and the larger Foxglove Nectarbird.

This is absolutely gorgeous. I really like the lighting on the feather, almost as if the white paint was transparent in a way.
Tigerlilies are my mom's favorite flower! They grow everywhere around here, but she just can't seem to get them to grow around our tree in the front yard. lol :)
