Foxglove Nectarbird
Bibinectarium Digitalis
This nectarbird, found in the same habitat and range as the Lilac Nectarbird, is also a frequent visitor to flower gardens particularly to those that grow Foxglove. Their diet consists on the blooms, and in a method still unknown, utilizes the color and markings of the blooms into the color of their plumage.
It was once believed that perhaps their feathers developed as such as camouflage, but after further observation this seems unlikely, as often these birds are the most vibrant in the garden.
