Week 3
Classes have already started, and we’re not already two weeks in and I am personally booked. The teachers wasted no time in absolutely drenching me in assignments, with exams and quizzes happening on a weekly basis. David and Jack seem to be having their fair share of stress too, but they, fortunately, picked less difficult majors. Being a biomedical student is the cream of the crop when it comes to sheer brutality.
As such, I barely have enough time to even get myself up and make dinner. They’ve all typically been consisting of a 1-item thing; a few baby carrots, an apple. Hardly enough nutrition to keep me going, but I gotta make sure these assignments are complete.
Isaac on the other hand seems to be the only one who is eating heartily. There’s never a day where I go into the kitchen and he isn’t digging into a stew, some pasta, or some bowl of stir fry. Recently he seems to know my situation because he’s been ordering out for himself and for me. Of course, I try to decline his gestures of kindness, but he waves me off.
Tonight, I was at the kitchen table going through some notes for a calculus exam. I hear the door unlock and I turn around, seeing Isaac huffing in with a big smile on his face. He sheds off his coat and holds up two giant plastic bags. “Hey, guys! Dinner’s on me again! I got take out!”
I smile. “Alright Isaac, what is it this time?”
“Chinese!” Isaac sets the bags down on the counter and bears me a grin. I hear the thudding of footsteps above me as David and Jack hurtle themselves down the stairs. Nothing gets you out of whatever you’re doing faster than the words “free food”.
