This guy was pieced together from 34 separate pieces of wood (a few rather small), primed, glued together with wood glue and painted to be put outside the school on one of four totem poles :3
Sadly, my class mates didn't find it as cool a project as I did, being I love totem poles. One girl of which made... <.< a piece of pizza.. yeah that's right.. Mr. Jacobi says we're going to make personal totems that represent us in a way to put together on a totem pole outside >.> and she makes.. a god damn piece of pizza..
Overall my guy here looked very out of place, as he wasn't too brightly colored and I used a lot more layers (5 in all). We were only allowed to use black, white, yellow and green to paint these guys. I hope the weather won't damage him too much in the coming year or two. ;.; If it were my choice, I would have stained him instead of painted him, and put him up on my wall :3 .. and I would have given him elk antlers! ^.^

Did you ask to see if you could have gotten him back after an extended period of time? Looks like a real keeper!
Looks AWESOME. What did you put the layers together with? Just wood glue of sorts? Or are there dowels or something holding the many layers together?
Hope you weather sealed him too D:
LOL at pizza girl.

Oh thank you! ^.^ Yeah.. I did end up asking, but my teacher was a real douche about it. He just looked at me and said that I should have known from the beginning that he would be out there for a long time.. and that basically I shouldn't have any attachment to it at all because I was told ahead of time what was going to be done with it <.< I didn't anticipate it to be so permanent. Though the principal said he didn't expect it to be up through next winter, so who knows. It is on that pole pretty good though.. both screwed and glued.. and the poles and cemented into the ground.
I just used wood glue to put it all together, and painted each piece over with exterior primer to seal him up, and then with another layer of exterior paint so I think he should be okay.. I left a few spots of wood to show through on the back of pieces so the glue would be absorbed in the wood and stick well to the separate parts, but made sure to double the paint around the edges. Just hoping for the best x3
*rolls eyes* oh pizza girl..

Ha, well, it took me quite a bit of work to assemble one of these, and quite a bit of time which I won't have for a lil while. It'd have to go for a bit, round 200 or so, design at your request of course. It would be a cool experience, but I won't be able to do much till after the summer though. Contact me again sometime if you're still interested in the future. I really appreciate your interest!
