This is another pic that's been in my "Finish Me Dammit" pile for a while. I think I initially got hung up on the fact that the original pic had a lot of unclosed shapes, which is hard to do in the vector art style I use. But I managed to get this done. I'm not entirely pleased with the smoke effects, but I don't feel like redoing them from start, which is what I think I'd have to do to make it work any better. I'm lazy.
That said, the 3D effect I used on the hearts looks decent. I'm learning how to manage it's settings better. It's not as good as manually shading would be for shapes more complicated than spheres, but fiddle with the settings enough and you can get a close approximation. And it's way faster than manually shading. I am lazy.

Anyway, Schnops's sorceress, Kestra - who always seems to be just one protruding nail short of a Boris Vallejo painting - likes to think of herself as the most important person in the universe and she's not afraid to tell you so. Aanaya, on the other hand, is a simple naga girl. She's a hard working farm-type, usually easy going, but she does have limits to what she'll tolerate. And Kestra pushed way beyond them. Aanaya usually only uses her powers when she needs some quick cash, but for this loud-mouthed, arrogant "mistress of magic," Aanaya felt she could make an exception. After all, you can only put up with so much before you need to put your foot down.
