The sky was blanketed with a dreary winter grey, the snow slowly pelting the ground; very little time passes but you already regret not going in there with him.
The warm glow of the coffee shop evermore beckoning you, you can't help but imagine being in there - for the very least being able to get out of the cold. You blink and shake your head, hearing the loud metallic clank of the shop's door.
He returned, slowly making his way toward you, carrying two steaming cups. He speaks softly, quite tired but with a warm smile, "My bad, didn't mean to keep you waiting."
He seems content, then again his expression rarely changes around this time; the holiday work hours are clearly doing a number on him.
Raising his left hand, the cup gripped firmly, generously bringing the pipping hot chocolate closer to you. Still smiling, eyes glazed but sincere. "Fresh and hot, just the way you like it."
