I design things weird, but, I like to think the front part of their mouth is all, metal/fleshy something so they can make...weird faces. Shhh...don't judge me...I mean, c'mon...things that turn into things? Haha.Realism? With fantasy based mechanoid aliens? FFFFFFFFFFFFFF And pull back their lips so their clattering teeth stick out more then they should in a horrifying manner. Or make creepy smiles like this...like some fatling cheshire cat. UGH HE'S SO FAT.
We can pretend he is Gnaw, if you know anything about the DW comics, he ran around with Wheelie. Yes. Wheelie.
In any event, this can be blamed on

Well considering what they transform into (or look like rather...lol), having a fleshy like build around the mouth is only normal. A I guess it could be considered like anatomically correct? I mean, in G1 they act a lot like piranhas, and fish have like, you know that weird way of just.... well my train of thought died to be honest. BUT FISH MOUTHS = STRETCHY STUFF.... or something like that.
I think it looks great on them. Kind of adds to the freaky cute thing it's got going on.

LOL it's all right, I understand what you mean. XD Though I did dislike what they turned into...was kinda pointless really, why turn these eating machines into...well, something that wasn't as horrifying, unless you wanted to laugh your aft off at the rotundness that was their robot modes. LOL Oh look, he's gonna hit me with that spike tail whip...if he can catch up to me.

The way you color, shade and highlight with textured brushes always amazes me; it all fits so well as a whole. Jealous as always, yesss.

And thank you very much as well, hehe. Just toying with the craziness, hopefully I get this down more though, i've been trying to use the brush more to paint the stuff in then just total gradient cuts but some parts still look kinda wonky to me until I fix it.

Mid-to-late eighties, when the Transformers cartoons were THE thing to be watching (and I was still a little one), they actually did create a line of sea-life based Transformers. Six of them, I believe, as in addition to transforming from animal to humanoid form, they could also come together ala Voltron and create what I called Super Sea-Beast. Hey, I was a kid then, Super Sea-Beast sounded bad-ass. <.<;
LOL, I think you are talking about the Sea Cons...I never actually had them, as I missed out on a lot of the TFs back then, I only remember like the really early ones, BUT...yes. And haha, I like Super Sea-Beast better then I think his combined name which was Pirahnacon or something durpy like that. I could be wrong though.
