This is a little follow up to a picture that I drew a few years back:

Christine's apartment heater went out during a freezing blizzard. Not wanting her to freeze in her cold apartment, her boyfriend Darrell invited her to stay with him until her heater gets fixed. They both liked the idea, that is until when came time to sleep at night. Darrell insisted she sleep in his bed and he'll sleep on the floor. But Christine didn't want to just kick Darrell out of his own warm bed just for her. So they finally decided to sleep together for the first time. They were nervous but they eventually got comfortable and cuddled together under the warm blankets and heated room. In fact things even got too hot for them as they cuddled closer and even made out for awhile (not having sex). They even removed most of the warm blankets so they could cool off. After all, Christine has a tall kangaroo with layers of muscle to keep her warm.
They finally drifted off to sleep in each other's arms, feeling the most comfortable, peaceful, and warm sleep they ever had during this Christmas season.

Not necessarily. I know Jason and Tyson's story has kinda played out, with them going from enemies to friends to lovers to husbands, and then finally deciding to adopt. All that would have taken place over the course of several years.
During that time, Darrell and Christine could have had had their reunion, started dating, and perhaps get married themselves and have the twins, so that by the time Jackson is around, the three little tykes are in the same age group.
But that's only one of the possible routes you could go if you wanted.
