Hello there, welcome (though I'm relativley new myself).
As for the pic, it's a good start. Feathers, or avians are pretty rare, so to see some art based off 'em is always a good sight. I like the attitude the picture is showing but there's a few things that seem off a bit, Hope my critique is constructive.

The heads of both are well detailed, clearly you spent the most time there, and I think nothing wrong with them. They show good emotion. From there down though the level of detail drops. Obviously this is a sketch, so it's not a complete work. With the detail in the head region, I would recommend keeping a somewhat uniform level of detail on the rerst of the body to give a complete feel. For exmple, the wings with straightline devides underneath would need some layering and perhaps not each feather drawn out, but a general idea there, definatley make the trailing edge a little broken up and less uniform. The feet too could use a little sprucing up, but that looks more like a placeholder than anything else. Other than that I have to say I like it a lot and hope to see further revisions coming soon.
Although two battling avianes seems contrary to the "FA United" label, Then again, I have no idea what FAU is so, yeah.

Thank you for the comment, yes, the sketch s in it's earliest, roughest phase. I wanted opinions about the subject before I went ahead and drew every feather and detailed out the pic.
As for the fighting, the theme for the con is WW2 propaganda, so I based this off an actual poster I found on the net.

I had a dream last night about this pic, and I think I'm going to finish and submit it, avians or not. the dream was positive towards the image, so i think I'll go with it.
