I was in the mood to give "Venom" a rewatch and it was still as goofy as I remember it, an R-rating would have seriously helped that movie out though, Deadpool and Logan are proof enough that an R-rated superhero movie can be profitable as well as a critical darling, Venom needed more gore, or at the very least a bit more gratuitous body horror, movie should have been Evil Dead 2 but with a superhero splash of ink. I think people would have dug a superhero horror comedy. Part of me feels the film was constrained due to Sony and especially the name I didn't catch back then, Tencent.

They probably had to restrict the film a lot just to have it release in China, honestly fuck that noise, not even the China part, limiting the potential of a creator's vision just to release the film in a certain part of the world is so garbage, good movies make lots of money regardless of national appeal.
