I like the multicolored sheen of Dream's mane; I'll bet the the origional is much brighter. A considerable amount of shiny and sparkely effects are due to different luminosity distributions for the same position in the image between one's two eyes. Photos and scanners can't record this, but holograms can. Sparkely jewelry looses a lot of sparkle in a photo but it is all there in a hologram. A photo of falling splashing water is much duller than the real thing, but a pulsed ruby laser hologram reproduces it perfectly.
