Thanatos, the legendary Typhlosion known to many in the Johto region to be simply a myth. Possessing power well beyond the maximums of a normal Typhlosion, Thanatos is the mightiest of his kind and will not be taken down without a fight.

Coupled with the Frosslass, Yakira, the only other 'Legendary four' to have been successfully discovered, Thanatos is easily the strongest of the four wielding unimaginable power.

For years he was the target for trainers and jealous Pokemon alike and grew to resent anyone who sought to control him. It was at that time when he retreated deep into a huge mountain to sleep and pray that the world would soon forget about him. 15 years passed before Thanatos finally crept from his home and into the outside world to find little changed. Thanatos began to wander through the Johto region to search for any human that would speak his name but to no avail as it seemed his own legends had become a stuff of myth.

Thanatos was approached a few weeks later by a boy known as Damien Cartelia, a rookie trainer who recognized Thanatos immediately from his pitch-black body. Thanatos did not find himself needing to fear the small boy and the two quickly became close and eventually, trainer and Pokemon. After acquiring Thanatos Damian began to seek even more power and began his search for the other three of the 'four legends' but to no avail in the Kanto or Hoenn regions. It was after beginning his search in Sinnoh that Damian came across an odd-looking Froslass. She seemed like any normal Froslass aside from having a slightly humanoid appearance and her arms on shoulders instead of connected to her mask. Frosslass could sense the boy's lust for power once he knew that she was indeed one of the four. Froslass barely escaped the wrath of Thanatos and fled south all the while having to battle and avoid trainers that knew of her existence.
Over the next nine years the Froslass was forced to battle and escape from Damian and Thanatos more times than any of the other trainers combined but always managed to slip away when all seemed lost.
