Silent Hill 3 has a kind of twist that ties into the first game, but finding the first game to play could be pretty difficult. Just read up on the plot and you'll understand more about the third.
The second doesn't have any relation to the first, but has a tiny relation to the fourth. It's not really important, though.
Silent Hill Origins is kind of about the past of Silent Hill and Silent Hill 5 really has no correlation to the others, if I remember.
