That's what I was wondering, too. I doubt yinglet Kass would go to a bar, especially alone, as I'm sure he'd be afraid of a drunken person falling on and crushing him. The twist here could be that she's there to see someone else, but I'd have no idea who.

I am reasonably sure that the author never said, or even given much of a hint. I can remember a comment about https://www.furaffinity.net/view/18499231/ (Working the Undergardens), something along the lines "that's how her parent species maintain grip in the mountains" but I cannot find it now. In any case she is not half-Indrel (the only species we can connect with mountains).

As a minor note, I suspect Fraller's expression would sell 'shocked and frozen stiff' if his mouth was slightly agape. That's usually what happens when someone's scared stupid :}
