BACKGROUND
Aaron; adventurous youth with more than a few shades of lunacy. Once a more or less average boy in a small town, Aaron never felt like he fit in anywhere - whether he was making puppets out of his textbooks, turning an oral report into a one-man play, or even the oft-mentioned "milk incident" that he pleads innocence for, he's always been one of the weird ones. His life changed, however, when, just as they were supposed to be heading away from home for the summer, he and his older brother, Xavier, stumbled across an alternate world called Avalos, where pretty much everybody is as weird, if not weirder than they are. Since then, they've been going on numerous adventures with their new friends, trying to adjust to this strange new place while looking for a way back home.
While they're in Avalos, Xavier and Aaron have taken up residence in Neon City, holing themselves up in a little apartment building until they can move up into having their own house. They've also been known to stay with the Williams family in their home or with Ry and Jessica in their shack on Waterfall Islands. Their adventures will take them to places that they could never have even dreamed of, ranging from kingdoms inside toy chests to city-wide amusement parks! If and when they get home, they'll certainly have a lot of stories to tell.
PERSONALITY
Aaron is an expressive, quirky, nerdy, and imaginative character with a quick wit and a lighthearted nature to him. He's also prone to being pretty flighty and even a bit cocky at times, but he's constantly loyal to his friends (or even just people he likes) and always tries to correct his errors. While adventurous and fun-loving in his own right, he's not as gung-ho about the whole "hero" thing as Xavier is and likes to take it easy when he can - when he's not on another adventure or getting caught up in some weird situation, he can often be found playing video games, eating tacos and BBQ wings, or just enjoying a nice little nap.
Aaron's worldview is a strange combination of optimism and cynicism. He views society from a cynical lens and often expects the worst out of people, but he makes it a point to not let it bother him. A problem-solver at heart, he can't help but want to fix whatever issue he comes across and rarely leaves anything the same as it was when he first saw it. Since he's not as serious as other characters like Raven, he tends to think outside the box when it comes to dealing with issues, which can sometimes throw people for a loop. However, while Aaron is generally a lighthearted person, he can take things seriously when he really needs to.
Aaron may be a bit of an adrenaline junkie at times and can have a competitive edge, but he's not the sort of person who'd go looking for trouble deliberately - 9 times out of 10, he ends up being dragged into it.
ABILITIES
Aaron may not be the strongest or the smartest guy around, but he's got a lot of skills at his disposal that can take both friend and foe by surprise. No matter how powerful his opponent is, he's good at finding a way to come out on top and helping to save the day.
Aaron's main skill is his ability with his signature twin yoyos, and while they may not sound all that impressive on paper, their simple design and incredibly long, durable strings allow him to use them in a lot of ways. With his basic Yoyo Shoot maneuver, he can throw his yoyos across considerable distances for a mid-to-long-ranged melee attack. He can spin his yoyo before throwing it for a stronger, farther throw, and he can even make it curve around enemy shields by throwing mid-strafe. Another ability, the Grappling Yoyo, allows his yoyo to grab onto objects in the environment, allowing him to swing across large gaps. A few of his other abilities include the Yoyo Dive Attack, which can send out a small shockwave upon impact; the Drill Attack, which sends his opponent spinning so fast that they burrow into the ground; and Walk the Dog, where he makes his yoyo spin in place after a throw, even while he keeps moving.
Besides his yoyo skills, Aaron is also physically capable. His physical strength is only average at best, but his speed, agility, and energy make up for his unimpressive strength. Perhaps the most notable physical skill in Aaron's arsenal is his Rolling Attack, where he tucks and rolls like a ball to bowl over foes that even his yoyos couldn't topple. His roll can also go down hills to build momentum, slide under gaps, and can even be used in midair to defend himself or keep his momentum going. Some of Aaron's other physical skills include wall-jumping, grinding on rails, swinging on poles, and performing a midair dive, the last of which can also be used as a Homing Attack. He's also surprisingly robust, able to take a pretty serious beating before going down, even against superhumanly strong foes!
A few of Aaron's other skills include video editing, animation, and cooking. Additionally, he used to run track back on Earth and was one of the best gymnasts in his neighborhood. He can also be pretty sneaky when he needs to be and can utilize various kinds of vehicles, including a jetpack, a hoverboard, and even a small plane. Finally, his metabolism is ridiculously good, allowing him to eat large amounts of food without getting winded.
However, Aaron also has a few substantial weaknesses. While he does have access to a few power-ups that temporarily grant him special powers, those powers are still temporary. Most of the time, those special power-ups either don't last very long or have a noticeable cooldown period. He's also pretty flighty, clumsy, and prone to goofing up, which can get him down at times. One more weakness Aaron has, mainly in the early parts of the story, is that he swims about as well as a kitchen sink - he's working on it, though.
Random Trivia:
Along with Xavier and everyone else in his family, Aaron's devised a secret method to store all of his items on his person so he can pull them out of seemingly nowhere at a moment's notice. How do they do it? Nobody knows, and they don't tell even their best friends about it.
His favorite sports include baseball, bowling, track, and go-kart racing.
He'd like to be either a game designer or a paranormal investigator someday.
Aaron's understanding of romance is pretty weak - whenever he has an admirer, he remains woefully oblivious unless it becomes entirely too obvious, and he himself has trouble recognizing his own feelings whenever the love bug gets him.
Aaron practically never calls Xavier by his full first name - he nearly always calls him "X" for short.
He absolutely refuses to go anywhere without his hat. He thinks that, without it, he'll have bad luck. He's superstitious like that.
Behind-the-Scenes:
During an early draft, Aaron was supposed to have elemental powers like Xavier, but I changed that because I figured that having him overcome threats without having superpowers would be way more interesting to read or write about.
