The emotional trauma caused by your trainer, someone in a position of power over you who's supposed to be acting in your best interest, taking something you care about and destroying it for absolutely no reason other than to hurt you, lasts forever. It helps that the 'something' in question is essentially her only friend.

Espurr's gonna wind up thinking it's her fault, that it's because she did something wrong, and walk on eggshells around her trainer forever. That won't be enough.
