Everyone's been doing the character development meme and I felt left out...I don't have a fursona or any serious personal characters that I've been working on for years like most artists around here so I am spear-heading the "SKILL MEME"
this is a meme that I think EVERYONE can participate in...from musicians to writers to visual artists....sorry I used the beetle boy again but he's my most recent submission so...yeah....
anywho
I feel like I've grown ALOT in the last year and a half. I still have alot to learn and I don't feel I've "made it" as an artist yet and hopefully this doesn't come off arrogant...
I've gained many fans in the last 6 months or so as my skills have grown but when people first see your work in its more advanced stages people just assume you've always been at that level...so untrue...it's something you see even in the Character Meme that's floating around...skill takes time and I want to stress that to people who are just now starting to visually express themselves. Where I am now came from trial and error, endless hours of watching people I idolize do what they do, studying tutorials and changing my techniques...too many times people get stuck in their ways and refuse to change what's obviously not working for them. People have lost their sense of adventure and their natural instinct to explore and experiment. You can only get better by doing. For every gem your favorite artist produces there is probably 30 other drawings that will never see the light of day. For those of us who have been blessed by your business and want to do it too please remember...you can be where we are too but if you're not will to start the journey you'll never reach this destination.
