Tiger conservation can be really depressing. I mean, you get bad news every day and the situation seems to get worse and worse despite the fact that the tiger is the world's favourite animal. It is really disheartening sometimes and can really sap your strength. Sometimes you just want to lay down and cry or even do nothing because you are too emotionally drained.
I've been like this, alone, far too often for my own good...not to mention the good of the tigers as well.

Tigers are the largest of the big cats and are exclusively found in Asia from India to Vietnam, from Indonesia to the Russian Far East. The tiger can be divided into 9 subspecies: 4 are currently critically endangered and 3 are already extinct. Though estimations of tiger populations only a few years ago was 5,500-6,000, today populations are likely closer to 3,500 and are still declining. Dramatic declines of the tiger in India, thought to host the majority of the world’s tigers, have fallen to less than 1,411. Overall, the past decade has seen a 40% reduction in tiger habitat, which now represents a mere 7% of its historic range. Poaching is a significant problem throughout the tiger’s range, the demand for its body parts in traditional medicines, tonics, and exotic dishes driving a lucrative trade that is wiping out entire populations. Long-term threats include habitat fragmentation and prey depletion, which is accelerating the tiger’s demise and subsequently reducing the long-term genetic viability of many populations.
If you want to help, the best for you to do is to educate yourself (http://www.savethetigerfund.org), never buy products made from tigers or endangered species (http://www.wildaid.org), and tell others. Contact me for more information.

Conservation is a depressing issue- and I think it only helps enlighten the "pointless void of nothing doom" feeling because there is a lot of focus ON the consistent depletion, rather then the triumphs. Rightfully so? I dunno. It is a tough issue- extinction can happen at any day, but conservation and sustainability are an on-going issue.
Conservation buddy right here yo! I just finished work for the Toronto Zoo and "Turtle Island Conservation" on a HUGE Teacher Guide and Student Manual for Local Aboriginal Reserves.. and the topic: Conservation of the Local Turtles and Amphibians. The guide is MASSIVE, but gets the kids out and hands-on the conservation! It also touched the topic of Water Conservation that I am obsessed with. I'll show you the book when they send me the digital copy of it.
sometimes conservation is like fighting windmills. they can agree that somethign must be done, oh surely they can. but can they actually stand up off their fat asses and DO IT?
then there are alwayd those who think the only animal worth living is the one that provides dinner.
little example: a couple years ago wolves from poland and hungary and even romania have immigrated into remote areas of eastern germany, mostly into Sachsen's eastern parts, full of forests and a military playground there. despite experts telling them that nothign will happen, and the people living in the little villages barely see any pawprint of wolves at all, some individuals crave nothign more than shooting them animals. because, they eat children. and your granny's wiener dog... good thing hunting wolves is completely fobidden in germany.
