Banded palm civet (Hemigalus derbyanus)

This is a color drawing of one of my older characters. She is also one of my favorite. Her name Sraj spelled سراج means lantern in Arabic. She started her career as a botanist and microbiologist but was able to retire early and became a theologian in the city of Orange Wall. She spends a lot of her time sitting by herself along the sea cliffs or walking in the orange orchards the town is famous for. Seldom speaking but in her mind she speaks with the Angels and ponders questions few will even know enough to ask. I've been thinking of doing a "Ask my character" section with her focusing on theological, spiritual, and ethical questions. The philosophy and ideas my characters function by are vastly different from many of the concepts of our world and I feel this might be a fun way for people to explore the world I'm building.

I used watercolor pencils and sepa chalk for this drawing. A combination of mine that I am becoming more enthusiastic as I play with it. I want a unique look and this is achieving what I was trying for.
