Actually, Dr. Galvon is a Galvanite, a student of the science founded by Dr. Luigi Galvani. The most famous of the art was Dr. Victor Frankenstein, and his lightning born monstrosity. The study of the Galvanites was granting life through electricity, and those finger guards are actually his fingertips themselves.
