This guy decided to take a break on our back deck railing while my father and I were working inside. I had my camera at hand, and I was able to slide the door open slowly enough not to spook him. The background on this one really helps, it's nice and clear for almost fifty feet beyond the quail.

Hey, glad you like it! They're kinda stupid, but they are amazingly fun to watch run around. :) I got lucky on this one, and they came in nice and close for me when I had a big lens mounted.

Hey, thanks! :) I really wish there was a decent way I could capture the way it moves when they're walking around, the little crest does this bobbley-wobble thing each time they bounce their head. It's absolutely hilarious. xD

Gambels Quail....I miss those entertaining birds, always so cheerful. And if you startled a covey of them, they explode into flight.

They're really amusing! I really need to watch for this shot again, now that I have some L-glass for my camera. Should come out a *lot* crisper.
