The 1956 Ford Thunderbird is one of my dream cars and the sky blue paint scheme is my absolute favorite. So I was pretty much drooling as I shot this and other photos of this vehicle. How fantastic that the designers even put chrome around the spare tire cover!

One of the few cars that I think looks great with that outside-mounted spare. I usually loathe those things, but they look perfect on a '56 Thunderbird.

Agreed about the aesthetics of an outside-mounted spare. Gotta admit they look great on Jeeps, but their time has passed on classy looking autos. Thanks for your comment and your fave.

I saw a 1964 drive past the other day... I know the front was different, but it was the same wonderful blue as my first car - a 1966. I couldn't even afford gas for the darned thing...
