X3 Woohoo! *clapclaps* He's so *happy*! I absolutely love how you rendered the snow.
Constructive bits of 2-am doom:
1: far eye is a bit higher than it should be
2: his body should be casting a shadow towards bottom-left of the pic, but it wouldn't be flat shadow due to the fluffy snow landscape, which makes it a pain to render
3: Tail looks a bit 'stiff"

Heh, I'm happy with how the pose and expression turned out, the first time Gene is actually, truely happy.
His far eye might seem a little high, I'm not too sure, it worked with the perspective I was working on.
As for the shadow, well, the snow by his right foot is meant to be in the foreground and coming up towards the viewer, so I figured that any shadow would probably be hidden behind it, so that's why it seems confusing.
As for the tail, It might be a bit stiff, was hoping for more movement in it.
