Lower Egypt was actually farther up than Upper Egypt, which was, of course, lower down than the upper part. This is why we learn geography as a factor in history.

Markers can be a tricky and unforgiving medium at times. Gotta think of it as a constantly addiditve process -- start light and get darker, as you're never really gonna be able to go the other direction with them. At least, I don't know of a way to take already established marker lines and start making them lighter.

Because that makes sense!

I love using markers for bright stuff like badges, but you're totally right- they're very unforgiving. I still haven't come up with the greatest layering technique, but I use white-out if I make a SERIOUS mistake.

Unfortunately, I have little more to offer as advice, as I don't do a lot with layering markers, myself. Lately, I've been a LOT more digital, but when I go traditional, I usually lay down markers for color and switch to pencil and paper for my highlights and shading.
