Alexander Richard DeLaVega, son of Leon Embers and Aries Passadar sloshed through the mire of the swamplands of Southern Rora, his mother's sword clutched in hand.
"Two. Freaking. Months." He muttered in English, shaking his head. The youth had been testing an aircraft of his own design in sub-orbit of Spira when it was shot down by Rora's 'Red Shield' defense network. It was nothing amazing. Just a single laser that aimed at his craft's fuel tank, heating it up until it combusted.
He wouldn't have even been over Rora if not for the freak storm over the Harrom Sea that sprang up in his flight path.
Lex was certain that Roran Shademen would be hunting him, but his experiences and stories from his parents gave him an edge. Besides, the Shademen were accustomed to urban warfare, not swampfighting.
And Rora is an unspeakably huge territory to cover.
The characteristic chemical compounds in Rora's waters and its soil darkened his fur some, which gave him even more of an edge in hiding from the hunters. He never made fires, using knowledge he'd accumulated as a Boy Scout and DeLaVega Youth Corps to survive off the land.
His mother's sword, Dragonlash, was as close to a lucky charm as he had, having been given the weapon when he was preparing to fly.
"What am I supposed to do with this?" he jokingly asked his mother.
"I've got a feeling, little one... Besides, it's seen me through plenty!" She responded.
Good thing she did, because the weapon proved invaluable in the unforgiving wetlands he'd crashed in.
All he needed to do was follow the creek, then the river, then he'd be able to make a raft and make his way downstream to the Dolmovan Republic and get in touch with the consulate there. Or even better, the Mercenary's Guild chapter house.
The young brainiac smirked to himself. "Guess I beat Oriana to some of Mom and Dad's milestones... 'Was assumed dead', 'Survived the destruction of one's spacecraft', 'Hunted by Shademen/KGB' and my personal favorite 'Plucked FREAKING LEECHES off of own arse'...."

Not gonna lie: When I first saw this post, I thought this was your idea of what Aries Passadar would look like if she were Male; it was only when I read the description did I find out he's actually Aries's son...
Not that that's bad or anything. Alexander looks just as lovely as his mother! ^^
