The Wishing Tree is used to hanging around furries so acknowledges there might be people who don't want to be eaten but doesn't believe it.
So this is copying a panel from a completely different public-domain Fairy Tales comic book than usual, this one from Ziff-Davis. Fairy Tale #10, cover date April-May 1951. This is from a story, David and the Dragon, where a kid runs away from home and meets up with a fire-breathing but pretty ridiculous dragon. This after meeting up with this wish-granting tree in the Haunted Forest. You can check the original art (and the whole story, which starts on page 28) at https://digitalcomicmuseum.com/preview/index.php?did=21684&page=33 if you like. The original art's by Dave Berg. I don't know if he's the writer too, but there are elements in the story which make me think he might be.
