Isn't she afraid of bugs or something like that? I'm not sure, I haven't seen the anime in forever. I kinda stopped watching after they went to the Orange Islands or whatever.

that's misty. May is afraid of all pokemon, but she's been working on that fear to the point where she begins to feel comfortable around them as a trainer with Ash and Max and Brock.
