I believe the 'hate' for this dinosaur may stem from the game The Isle in which at one point in its development, introduced the Psittacosaurus or "Taco" as they were nicknamed, as one of the starting playable herbivore dinosaurs when the playing system was done in points collected to progress to another more bigger species until you reached the more 'apex' herbivores of the progress tree. When these guys were release, they did not have a fast running speed, often were spawned in areas poor in drinkable water and viable food so players often died traveling to locations on the map from starving/dehydrating, and probably the most frustrating part about playing this dinosaur was the fact it did not come with a means of defense, so there's no attack button.
People had to wait half an hour or more as this creature just to get to something they deemed 'viable' in terms of gameplay. Today, the Psittacosaurus has been turned into A.I. only (with sandbox mode the only way to play as) in the new version of gameplay - Survival, whereas progression was removed. With the game getting a rework from the ground up after the original suffered corrupted code that would break something and anything when updates were made, the play ability of "tacos" is still up in the air either to remain as AI prey for small and medium predator dinosaurs or if one of the devs finds a way to make playing them entertaining and enjoyable for players.
Hope that clears up any confusion regarding the 'hate' for this little guy. :)
