While I was doodling portraits, I decided to give Buck a bit of a redesign--I gave him a more proper deer nose instead of his usual button nose, and I added a full beard to see how he'd look with one since I sometimes drew him with some little whiskers on his chin in the past.
While the beard isn't quite to my liking in hindsight, the nose redesign will probably stay--although I think next time, I'll make it a bit more narrow.

Thank you very much! Honestly, I think you're the biggest reason and influence for this change, I recall a while back you mentioning how it used to irk you just a little bit seeing more "canine" style noses on deer, and then seeing how you drew a proper deer nose on Buck (and how you draw them in general) gave me ideas...
This might sound sorta weird, but... Thanks!
I'll have to gradually roll this change out to my other deer characters as I draw them in the future--maybe I should have started with a less commonly-used character of mine like Rasmus or Hartley for this, but I was already in the mood to play with Buck so why not?

Playing with character designs is a great way to freshen up their looks a bit and make use of things you've learned over the years, I'd definitely recommend it! I'm still hesitant to make major changes to character designs I've drawn for years, but minor tweaks here and there aren't a bad thing.
Thank you very much! I agree, the beard style, while it definitely works in general and would probably work for something like a goat or some sort of fantasy species, doesn't quite suit him.
Next time, I'll try giving him something more like a "soul patch" (I think that's what that little chin beard thing is called), but he can't change it now since it's No Shave November.
