Chapter II
Permission to marry
A few days later, Throttle drove his motorcycle into the Last Chance Garage and turned off the engine, then dismounted and removed his helmet. Stoker looked at him as he walked up to him. Tomorrow was their road trip, so they had to pack tonight. Best of all, Bon Jovi was going to perform there during their vacation at the Boardwalk Hall in nearby Atlantic City, so Charley was able to get tickets for all of them except for Miles and Stoker.
"Hey, punk." Stoker greeted him with Miles in his arms, "Where did you go? You left before breakfast."
"I had to go pick up something from K-Mart." Throttle replied, "Where's everyone?"
"They've gone to go get stuff for tomorrow." Miles said, "It's just you, me, and granddaddy."
"Good." Throttle said as he placed his helmet down on his motorcycle handle, then opened up a compartment and pulled out a small shopping bag. "I need to talk to you guys in the livingroom."
The three of them left the garage and entered the livingroom.
"What's up, Throttle?" Stoker asked
Throttle sighed and scratched the back of his head, trying to find the right words.
"Stoker, I had loved Sara since we were kids, " He began to tell him, "and I wanna marry her. I need both yours and Miles's permission to do so."
Stoker began to laugh at what Throttle had said.
"You both had been crazy for each other for years." He exclaimed, "Ever since you two were reunited with each other last year, you guys have been living with and dating each other. You two really deserve to marry each other. But don't worry, you have my permission."
Miles tugged on Throttle's vest and raised his arms up, wanting him to pick him up. Throttle lifted him and held him in his arms.
"You also have my permission, daddy." Miles added. "What do you have in there?"
Throttle placed Miles back down and pulled out a small ringbox from the shopping bag.
"Charley hired me to work for her last year so I can afford this." He explained as he opened up the ringbox, revealing a beautiful silver, blue-diamond ring. "I'm gonna propose to her during our trip next week."
"That's a great idea." Stoker said.
"But please, don't say anything to Sara." Throttle asked the both of them as he closed the ring box and placed it into his pocket, "I wanna keep this a surprise to her until next week."
Throttle looked down at the coffeetable. A few brochures from Wildwood were scattered all over it. He and Stoker sat down on the couch and placed Miles down, then started looking through them.
"Charley got those in the mail today." Stoker told him just as the others entered the garage and turned off their engines. "I think it's best if you look through them just to see what Wildwood has to offer."
"Hey, guys." Modo greeted them from the garage
"Stoker? Throttle?" Melissa said, "Where are you guys?"
Miles ran over to the garage doorway.
"We're in here, everyone." He said, waving his arms around and jumping up and down.
Modo walked up to him and lifted him up in his arms. He then entered the room carrying Miles in one arm and his robotic arm around Melissa, wearing a tight dark-blue t-shirt, along with his pants and shoes. A shopping bag was in his right hand. Despite having the build of a bodybuilder, he was a both a gentleman and a huge teddy-bear to both women and children. Plus, he and Melissa had been dating since they were in their high school years. All of them including Sara and Charley entered the room and sat down, then started looking through the brochures they recieved. One brochure that caught Miles's eye was a brochure about a place called Morey's Pier, an amusement park which consisted of three amusement parks and two beachfront water parks.
"Wow!" Miles said while looking at the brochure.
He got up on the couch and sat down beside Sara.
"Mommy, can we go here during our vacation?" Miles asked her as he showed her the brochure.
Sara took the brochure and looked through it.
"Definetly, yea." She replied with a grin and a wink while returning the brochure back to him.
Charley got up from the recliner and faced them. The phone rang and she got up to answer, then returned to the group.
"Guys, I just got a call from my cousin Micheal who owned the hotel in Wildwood." She told the group, "Unfortunatley he has to delay the grand opening due to a pest control problem."
"Aww man." Vinnie complained, "There goes a week at the beach with women in swimwear."
"Not to worry, Vinnie." Charley said, "The hotel he is opening up is part of a national chain of locations he owns, and he was able to get us a few hotel rooms for the week at another location in nearby Atlantic City, New Jersey."
"But what about Morey's Pier?" Miles asked.
"Not to worry, sweetheart." Charley assured him. "Atlantic City has its own amusement park called Steel Pier."
"Great." Melissa said," When do we leave, Charley?"
"Tomorrow morning." Charley replied
"Then it's settled." Sara declared, "We pack up tonight, then leave early tomorrow night."
They spent the rest of the day getting ready for the week-long trip by doing laundry and packing their bags, getting them ready. Charley had to get her pickup truck ready though because she was gonna take with her. Then they had hot dogs and root beer for dinner.
The next morning, the morning sunshine ray streaked through Throttle and Sara's bedroom window and laid itself onto two sleeping bundles on the bed under the white silk covers. Throttle was the first one to awake. He sat up and reached for his specs on the nightstand and slipped them on, then looked over at Sara who was still asleep beside him. He smiled at her when Miles opened the door and entered the room. It was a good thing Throttle was wearing his dark-blue gym shorts.
"Morning, daddy." Miles said as he ran up to him in his brown motorcycle pajamas.
"Morning, pal." Throttle replied as he lifted him up and placed him sideways on his lap, "How long have you been up?"
"Just got up, daddy." Miles replied
He got up onto the bed and glanced at Sara, who slowly woke up with a groan and a yawn. She sat up.
"Well, look who's up with the boys." Throttle said with a smugly grin
Sara grabbed her pillow and creamed
"Mommy!" Miles exclaimed as he threw his arms around her neck. "Good morning, mommy."
"Morning, baby-doll." Sara said as she returned the hug, "Are you ready for the roadtrip?"
"Yes, mommy." Miles replied excitedly
Throttle got up and walked into their bathroom for his shower. His idea to propose marriage to Sara during their vacation was one he hoped would work. He began to wonder if he would make a good husband.
