It’s the spookiest time of year, but what are the biggest, scariest spooksters of the Felwood Fright Festival doing looking so wigged out? Who knows… who knows… maybe they've heard all those ancient stories about animals stealing the sun and moon?
Week Three: The Witching Hour was the third week (obviously) of the Felwood Fright Fest 2020 Art Fight, but my first attempt at the prompt wasn’t coming out well and then the file got eaten in a Photoshop crash (mid-save, so the whole thing corrupted). I submitted a screenshot of what I had for the WIP and went away grumbling about how it never got to a point where I liked it before it "finalized" itself. The fifth week was make-up week and while the only things in common with my original screenshot-submission and this one was the general idea and the colour scheme, I’m MUCH happier with the result. It’s my first finished picture using gradient maps, and obviously I have a lot of work and refining to do for future experiments, but the mood I wanted seems to be getting across, so I’m happy enough with that, lol.
It does make some colours (that are very similar to each other, to be fair) look like they’re all the same though, I gotta admit that. Brandy (the four-armed Forsaken in the middle there) in particular looks like he's all the same colour, but he's not. That's hue vs. value for you though, I guess. It's one of those art concepts that I "know" but I don't KNOW, you know? Been struggling to internalize that stuff for nearly a decade now and it still isn't quite sticking.
Some day, Gadget. Some day.
(also I forgot to upload to FA again, gah! You'd think, given that I've been doing a lot better about at least being furry-adjacent recently, that I'd remember that part but old habits die hard, I guess.)
