Well, its my 24th birthday tomorrow. I'm unsure how to feel about it but I'm willing to roll with the punches. This song seemed fitting though. I did a little bit of mixing but other wise this is just a single mic recording trying to replicate the intimate feeling of Neil Young's early concerts where he played only acoustic guitar and had no back up band. I have found Neil Young's music to be incredibly inspiring in many turning points in my life. From keeping After the Gold Rush nearly constantly in my car in high school to listening to his Sugar mountain album almost every day in my last days of trying to keep sane at Rainsong. The is something honest about everything he writes and That is the best way to tell a good story.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy it. Ill be uploading more originals in a bit.

Thank you. I actually had to really work at finding a key I could do that in and keep the fingering necessary to play the weird D-7th voicing that he uses in the intro. I ended up tuning my rainsong down a whole stet to D. So I'm actually playing the song in the key of C.
I think that the choir I took last quarter did me a lot of good.

I don't like Neil's performances, but he writes some damn good songs. Much as is the case with Bob Dylan.

Oh his performances are actually my favorite albums :O But I understand, the first time I heard one of his songs come on i turned off my CD player. I actually think he is a worse singer than Bob Dylan :|
However you cant choose what or who you fall in love with. As offensive as the vocals are initially I found them growing on me till I had at lest one album in my car at all times. Incidentally I think that when I go through a jag of listening to those two, I come out writing better lyrics myself.
