Skixal was the very first of his kind and could have very well been the only of his kind, being essentially a freak lab experiment that went a little too *right*, his now dead creators (Died at another of their own creations work) tried to kill what they made but he escaped just barely, spending years living out of bins and barely scraping by, his luck changed when he met with Scaarth, who saw the bug's potential immediately and upon hearing his story, decided to take him directly to one of the universes most secret and dangerous factions, The Chosen. Long story short, The Chosen took a real liking to Skixal and offered their services for free to give him a full species, spinning and mixing his genetics to produce more "Skillians" as they came to be known. They would not be under the Chosen's rule per say, but would be close allies, working for them as a mercenary sector, with the ability to leave at any time.
Although all future Skillians would descend directly from Skixal, the Chosen's vast data arrays and processing centres produced several "bloodlines" allowing for genetically diverse breeding options moving forward, even for Skixal himself. But why? What did the Chosen see in Skixal that would merit such a gracious gift as that for free?
Simply put, the Chosen saw a creature of absolute potential for their own goals and calculated that even if a small percentage of them stayed with the Chosen, it would be worth the effort.
Skillian's boast a supremely powerful set of nature capabilities that put them near the top, if not at the very top of the most powerful sentient species in the universe, barring Battle Sisters and of course, Azuri's. Physically, the Skillian body boasts one of the higher muscular outputs per pound, with tungsten enriched exo-skeletal plating and bones, an extremely well developed and practically flawless nervous system gives them insanely fast reaction times, well tuned sensory organs (including those large antenna) give them a very adept and keen awareness of their surroundings, excellent eyesight and hand to eye co-ordination and despite being rather solidly built, they're extremely light on their feet and agile. Combining these elements, you have a creature that's resilient, fast and strong, although Skillians do tire quite quickly, they have ways of training and overcoming this (Foreseen by the Chosen).
Then you have their natural intellect (curiosity, memory and adaption are three of their best elements), their bio-electrical capabilities and finally, their absolutely astounding natural psyonic capabilities. Skillian's are very intelligent, fast learners, aided by their curiosity, they quickly pick up knowledge and apply it effectively, making them well suited to complex tasks. Their bio-electrical elements aren't great for offensive uses, they are capable of generating a painful shock if required but its rarely lethal on its own, but they have acute control over their internal electrical fields, allowing them to interface with machinery in unique ways without cybernetic implants of any sort, plus this sort of innate control and understanding of electricity has many practical applications both in and outside of combat. Finally, their un-paralleled psyonic capabilities.
It cannot be overstated how psyonically attuned the Skillan's are, every single Skillian created (And those recently born) ALL have psyonic potential, able to tap into phased plane of existence without help and freely navigate it. No other species comes even close to this, Azuri's hit about 10% of their population, Battle Sisters around 15-20%, some draconic species manage to each around 30-40%, Czarites and their corrupted counter-parts are around 20%, no one even comes close to 100%. The implications associated with this according to the Chosen are insane. Psyonics are produced from the Mind, Body and Soul all communicating freely with one another and forming a complete unit, most people will live perfectly happy, healthy lives without this true connection of course, psyonics are in no way associated with true happiness or anything, it just means that power can flow freely between all three, most crucially, the Soul, as this is the only place where energy can be produced (Which is how psyonic users can generate projectiles and attacks from nothing). The fact that all Skillians from birth/creation are able to access this means that their species has a deeper connection with their nature and soul, perhaps the deepest in the entire universe, this intrinsic understanding has a powerful knock-on effect on every element on a Skillian, being able to draw power (and therefore strength) from their soul, causes them to grow stronger, faster, than non-gifted people and species.
Take a standard Skillian bio-electric abilities for example, now enhance it with several years worth of psyonic training and this Skillian is now able to produce a massive surge of lightening, easily, in the blink of an eye. These are already powerful skills, but enhanced with psyonic training (Which grows in strength itself as its trained!) and they begin to rival actual military tech on the battle field. What does this look like? It's an extremely fast, agile solider, able to freely walk within the phased plane (Allowing him to essentially completely avoid fire and move undetected at blistering speeds) and assault with extremely potent psyonic attacks (Which could be anything from the aformentioned lightening blasts to void strikes or fireballs or anything really) - And thats an unarmed Skillian. Now provide them with the Chosen's absolutely top of the range assault armours and Demiicore weapons, custom designed to work with their psyonics and bio-electricity... you can begin to understand why a squad of Skillian's would be an asset to the Chosen and an absolutely bloody nightmare to deal with on the battlefield.
Granted, they're not invincible or bulletproof or strong beyond words like the Azuri's, but a squad of phase shifting, lightening bugs armed with guns that can punch through the side of a tank, that can appear anywhere in the blink of an eye and disappear before you even get to the pull the trigger back is no joke. They are able to outpace, outgun and overpower practically anything. A Rhargnorn might have more power per pound of muscle (and usually waaaay more muscle!) but that matters little when you can barely see your opponent. This doesn't even begin to describe how powerful psyonics can becoming and there is a lot of evidence that suggests that Skillian's could become a major powerhouse in the psyonics fielding, coming in second after the Azuri's according to the Chosen's calculations.
Skixal, as pictured, is only taking part in a training exercise here, Scaarth is further training him in CQC and firearms. When you know exactly how many people are in the building and roughly where they all are, CQC becomes a lot easier...
Doesn't he look lovely in his new suit? Turning into a right little badass he is!
