A re-imagining of Launchpad McQuack for my fanfiction.
Larry "Launchpad" McQuack was born near Buffalo, Toon York in 1983 (1928 Cartoonia Time) to WW1 flying ace turned barnstormer Rip "Ripcord" McQuack. Upon turning 18 in 1941 (Anthro-avians are the equivalent of five human years old upon hatching), he enlisted in the United States Army Air Force and was sent to flight school to train on the new B-24 Liberator bomber. Larry was assigned to the 44th Bombardment Group, part of the 8th Air Force, and sent to a Royal Air Force base in Norfolk, Inkland to begin combat operations as a co-pilot. Larry and his crew were very close, and went on over 30 missions over Europe together, bombing targets in Francartoon, Jerrymany, Eataly, and more. The pilot that Larry flew with, John Walsh, let Larry name a couple of planes, and Larry came up with the name "Rubber Duck", since the bombers seemed to bounce off enemy bullets and still keep on flying. This name would be applied to many of the planes Larry's crew flew on, and like the other planes before, they luckily made it back to base after each mission. That aside, every single plane they used came back with so many bullet holes that they were nearly all written off, and because of this, every landing was a crash landing, no matter who was at the controls. Larry and his crew didn't really mind it that much, since that was typical of surviving planes coming back from bombing raids.
After the war, Larry was reassigned to the new U.S. Air Force and sent to Toon Mexico as part of a B-50 Superfortress squadron. Because his plane was a test platform for new missiles and rockets, it earned him the nickname "Launchpad". In 1955, upon learning that he also tested volatile experimental weapons for the Disney Corporation, Larry defected to the Republic as part of Operation Payday after the Battle of Cartoonia. He now flies a CC-70 Republic heavy bomber as part of the 111th Bombardment Group, under the 104th Composite Unit led by Chanticleer Bluth, the hero of the Battle of Cartoonia.
Launchpad McQuack belongs to Disney.
