My warlock and his patron; in spirit of the coming dnd and mtg crossover set, as partner commanders for sultai sea creatures. The addition of black I just find emphasizes the dark depths of the sea much better than simic.

Do the lands that become Islands lose all other land types and effects like with blood moon?

They become islands solely, not in addition to their other types. So yes, that effect is similar to blood moon so to say. Although only one per turn is hit while thygg is on the field.

If you have the mana that is. And it’s much slower than blood moon sind more political so to say in commander. Not saying it’s bad or something. But most of all it’s an insurance in case nobody plays blue and you can still capitalise on the cost reduction.

Nemesis of reason comes to mind when I think of blue-black leviathan.

The Nemesis is the only one in terms of leviathans with black. For krakens and serpents you have more. You have gyruda and wrexial and you have I think three or so serpents with black, the most recent being locker serpent from eldraine I think.
