Muttropolis - Picky Eater
I don't consider myself a picky eater but
skorzy will beg to differ. I justify it as "I don't eat much so what I will eat I want it how I want it." It's all about "ratios", "fillers" and "application" with me. I don't like too much lettuce on a BLT because without enough bacon and tomato to balance it out it just tastes like yard trimmings. I don't like too many filler veggies when I really just want to taste the meat, and while I like some things in certain applications I don't like them in others, such as raw onions vs. grilled onions, or bruschetta vs. the tomato chunks on a veggie lover's pizza.
Ok so I guess I'm kind of picky.

Artist's note: I'm sorry about the awkward format of this comic. These are really just sketch diary pages for me and I just wanna get the idea out, sort of stream of consciousness I guess.

The thing is, if someone were to cook for me, I wouldn't say a thing and I'd eat it as is and probably enjoy it just fine, but if I'm ordering something somewhere I'll likely butcher the menu.
I've figured a way around the big mac/shreddy lettuce nonsense though:
Order the double cheeseburger off their dollar menu, ask for it "plain" with Mac sauce. No lettuce, no pickles, no onions, no extra carbs with the third bun, just delicious meat, cheese and sauce :) And it's even cheaper!

Yeah my experience with eating out with vegetarians is "I'd like a grilled cheese please" since that's usually the only thing at places like In N Out they can eat :( Must be really tough. I do like vegetarian stuff though, so if I had any RL veggie friends I'd be totally fine with going to a restaurant of their choice! Indian restaurants are great for that, for example :D
Haha I do actually ask for grilled cheese sammiches a lot. It gets rather boring sometimes though. But today my mother-in-law and I went out for mexican food, and I got a bean tostada and asked for "light lettuce", which your comic reminded me of. XD
I haven't been to an indian restuarant myself but I've heard they usually serve a lot of meatless dishes. :3

They do! They're really great! One dish I particularly enjoy is Mutter/Mattar Paneer, and is a pretty standard offering in most Indian restaurants.

I usually get that whenever I go out for Indian. It's one of those "can't usually go wrong" dishes if you're new to Indian, much like how most meat eating folks order chicken tikka masala :)

I'm male.... and I order my philly cheesesteak without onions and peppers all the time! Yeah.... I give up trying to make up excuses I just start out telling the waiter "i'm the hard strenous annoying order of your night..... so here it goes. I issue a challenge....can I have a etc etc etc"
I'm one of those horrible people who will sometimes tell people that I'm allergic to nuts because I hate them so much and I'm sick and tired of people asking me "whyyyyyyyyy? they're so good! try them you'll like them" I have. I hate them. Thank you. But they get confused when I eat macadamia nuts because I actually really like those >_>
And I /hate/ bell peppers, but lately my tastes have been changing a lot and things I previously hated I now either tolerate or enjoy a lot. I'm making Philly Cheesesteaks for the boy this weekend, I might have to sample the peppers again just to make sure.

I do that with Beer.... "Dude gotta try this beer" "I'm actually allergic to Hopps....where's the whiskey?" that way I don't have to go through explaining why I don't like beer and having them try and convince me I just haven't had the right beer yet and need to try their beer.
I hate tomatoes,...love ketchup and marinara sauce. I like onions if their fried or grilled, I also prefer them diced instead of strips. I only like cheese if it's melted..I don't like it solid for some reason?

I'm a beer nut and even I understand the "don't like beer" concept enough to back off after first rejection. I hate it when people keep pushing ;/
Your cheese thing sounds a lot like my step sister. She also hates solid cheese, but she puts melted cheese on EVERYTHING. Even spaghetti...like I'm talking melted jack/cheddar combo here. She pretty much won't eat anything unless it has cheese, I'm surprised she's not 500 lbs.

I'm a wicked picky eater, I don't eat red meat for the most part, though I sneak an occasional burger <3, wont eat fish, save for tuna from the can only with miracle whip not mayo, love ketchup on like everything, hate tomatoes, I eat pizza without cheese, cant eat mushrooms, peas[unless there fresh from a garden and uncooked], I only eat white rice, I can ONLY eat Heinz ketchup everything else taste to funny, I cant stand BBQ sauce I don't like cheese sept on mac and cheese, nachos, and white cheddar things like smart food and white cheddar cheese puffs. I have to have ketchup on my eggs, any poultry, any meat at all really or I wont eat it. when it comes to drinks the I will not drink Pepsi for my life has to be coca cola when we go out to eat I tend to butcher stuff, ketchup on mc'nugget wont eat there burgers, I do not like steak and people don't get why and bug me over and over why not, I cant eat spicy food at all, even like those make it yourself taco kits are to spicy for me.

This is why I've loved Wendy's since 1976.
Even back then, they were all about the "we make it the way YOU want it" thing into which all the other fast burger joints have been dragged, kicking and screaming, over the years, which came in handy when I was traveling with my friends' family and the parents were getting tired of me always asking for plain burgers at fast food joints, which, back then, slowed down the process.
So, one day, they said "if it comes out with ketchup and pickles, THAT'S HOW YOU'RE EATING IT!" But Wendy's made it plain like I like it, and they've had my highest regard ever since.

My daughter went through a phase that was all she wanted on her hamburger and we had the same thing happen, bun, ketchup. We took to telling the order taker.. just hamburger and ketchup.
When I used to order big macs, I never got pickle with it. Can't stand something about it on a hamburger. The little bits in the 'sauce' didn't have the same impact as the large taste/texture of the pickle.

I'm soooo there. I like plain food and that's something the fast food industry just can not contemplate. It's gotten to the point I just don't go through the drive in at McD's anymore because I KNOW they'll screw it up and pile on everything. I not only walk in but then stare down the line workers as they make it. And even then I still will get home with 1/2 my lunch time remaining and find f*@#ing mayo or onions on my stuff!
That and I've mastered the saying "Meat bread cheese" for the 3 times the workers at Subway/Quiznos will ask "Are you sure this is all you want on it?"

I can't stand beer or anything bitter tasting.
I always thought there was something wrong with me- til Gen Whitmore mentioned she was a supertaster.
Supertasters have something like double the normal number of taste receptors per square inch on the tongue...So are extremely sensitive/react badly to bitter flavors.
I have not tested for it myself, but I have the same symptoms, so probably.
Can't drink black coffee or beer because the bitter taste makes me react so strongly that I actually get a gag reflex and retch...From one mouthful.
Can't stand a lot of foods for more or less the same reason-Fish has to be extremely fresh, or it tastes rancid to me as an example- lots of things like that.

Its very rare that I order something and don't at least change one thing in the order - so I totally know where you're coming from.
Some things on menus just don't make any sense - like, for the life of me I can't figure out why onions would be good in a bean and cheese burrito. hurgh!
I like these comics and the cute little stories that they tell... =)

And yeah when I go to Taco Bell (I sometimes crave it, lol) I always order my bean/cheese burrito with no onions. I don't know why that would be considered delicious either, or standard for that matter. It's not just a taste thing in that case, it's also a texture thing. Like how my aunt puts walnuts (ew) in candied yams. It's like "moosh moosh moosh CRUNCH" in texture, do not want!

You're not the only one 9.9

Sadly, I'm extremely picky as well..
I can not bring myself to eat anything but the meat and cheese and HALF a bun when I go to eat... XD
I DON'T WANT A BREAD BURGER!
I WANT A MEAT BURGER!
...I bet it's very aggravating at times.
... Maybe that's just my inner lumberjack not accepting anything but meat.
That must be it!
