Continuing the Emma And Ash sketchbook.

For a long time this page was just rough pencils.

Trying to find the right style for this story took years. i was still in the animation biz when i started it, locally in demand and "perfecting my craft" blah-blah - so was initially thinking somewhat cartoony but sophisticated for the style. The main Emma pic here had that in mind - but was also intentionally a chibi version. Here's a later chibi Emma, also from the sketchbook (and one of my faves of my own pics) :

Upper right Emma was probably sketched in the same year ( '95 ???). Trying out different styles.

Lower right Emma was sketched in around 2013 ? i had to do a bit of digital re-inking on her face cuz i hadn't quite finished inking her far eye, whatever. i regard that as post-production clean-up, so this is still 99 % taditional inking.

All of it heavily '80s/'90s manga influenced.

and, yeah, i have to do a colour version of this page.

Lower left Emma was most recent sketch - closer to modern style - probably from the same time as the inking - Feb - April 2017.
