So far as colouring, just colouring the blood would be perfect; as you mentioned above.
Lore-wise that's perfect as well, given how heavy of an action the weighing of the heart is. It decides whether someone goes on or not -- it's a judgement of their lives. Adding colour would add that weight to this image, and show just how serious of a matter the weighing was in Egyptian lore. ^_^
This looks wonderful ~ But as for a suggestion, that's all I can think of.
