Experimenting with a new paper and a more finished painting style.

the paper had a nice deckle edge that I wanted to retain, so I scanned it with a border.

VERY beautiful! I love the pose and the lighting is exquisite. What media did you use?

The detail is just so stunning. Every little hair, it seems, is shown!

Hmmm, I never really remember what media I use because it's almost always mixed. I know there was some acrylic in there and color pencil. The background was acrylic ink

It was actually an old paper I had lying around from my college days. So I am not certain. but I think it's a thick strathmore which I used in printmaking.

I love this piece because the paper choice, background colour and composition are every bit as important as the rendering of the dragon itself. I would say that's truly a mark of an experienced painter.
