Greece 2019 - ''Cross of Light''
posted 5 years ago Writer,Gamer,DL and Tropenboy
Back in 2019, I went to Greece with my dad. I got to choose which country I really wanted to visit, and ultimately, I chose Greece, since it has so much rich history and interesting buildings and ruins. And was it worth it! We visited way more places than I could imagine, such as a monastery built inside a rockface; a rusty motorcycling bridge; quiet cemeteries (which were all over the place, BTW) and many small towns. There was even a wide pebble beach with thatched umbrellas! And who could forget the one building Greece is most known for -- I'm of course talking about the Parthenon on top of the mountain Akropolis! I have many more pictures, so stay tuned!
This photo right here shows how lucky my dad and I were when we entered a dilapidated church, which can be found at the rocky, plantlife-infested coast of the town that's known as Monemvasia. The story goes that the people in ancient times used to live here. The rich people lived on top of the hill, looking down on the poor people, quite literally. Over time, a village was created on this spot that would eventually be called Monemvasia. Near the rocky cliff overlooking the sea, my father and I discovered an old church with a round dome, sitting in the middle of nowhere. Of course we decided to take a look, and we turned out to be allowed in. We looked around and then I decided to take some pictures with my iPhone, and that too was allowed. As you can see, in the back of the church, just above the priest's cubicle, a window has been made in the shape of a Christ cross. At the exact moment I took a picture of it, some rays of sunlight came in through the windows! It looked absolutely beautiful, and the moment couldn't have been better!
