As I'm getting more pics of Vuul recently I decided to start organizing how his whole heirarchy works for if anyone would want to join or associate their character to it :o
I'll list each in order of most influential to least influential in this Vuul-centric society. If anything isnt clear or is confusing let me know, its pretty complicated to explain everything in my head haha.
The Void Lords
The Void lords are a shadowy and malevolent force (In opposition to the Seers: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/34707440/ ) who try to spread their influence in the mortal plane in order to drain its magic to feed their endless hunger for energy and power. The Void Lords have no physical presence within the plane and act through corrupting mortals into serving their bidding similar to the seers themselves. The iconic presence of the void is usually marked with goo, a physical manifestation of magic which hungrily consumes magic and energy to multiply/spread itself. Their goal is to corrupt the mortal plane through their corrupted minions and eventually lead to its destruction. Their vendetta against the plane comes from the fact that it was created with energy stolen from them by the Seers. As they work from the shadows, not even Vuul knows he serves them; instead hearing their maddening whispers in his mind (originating from the Orb of Xanithar on his chest) as if those thoughts were his own... a puppet of his unseen masters. Their whispers are also used to control his subordinates who believe it is their god Vuul commanding them to act.
Vuul-Khan
Vuul is a former Senthis Warlord from the great deserts of Morval who sacrificed himself to rid the world of the murkmite invasion by absorbing the magic and goo that animated them. His unstable body was sealed within the temple of Askar behind powerful seals where his body metamorphosed into the snake deity we know him as today. Once the wards broke, the new insane monstrocity began to assimilate misled worshipers into an ever growing legion of disciples and minions to conquer the world. Vuul himself views himself as a sort of liberator within his insanity, a sort of benevolent dictator who will unite all mortals under his banner. It is a twisted interpretation of his original goal to bring eternal world peace that the Void Lords utilized to corrupt the great general to do their bidding. Though this is not to say Vuul cares not for his worshipers, he does envision himself as their god and protector and tends to reward those who serve him well. His followers in return are infinitely loyal to their caring god, and seek vengeance against all those who would oppose his divine vision. He is the Great Unifier, and all those who oppose him will be defeated...
On his chest lies the Orb of Xanithar, corrupted by the influence of the Void in the source of his incredible power. Unlike his mortal form, his new corrupted body sports a third eye and a large naga tail as well as being completely amorphous... able to shapeshift with ease. The god's powers include hypnosis, goo manipulation, conversion/assimilation of mortals, symbiotically fusing with a victim, and mind control among many other feats of power. The Avatars are special mortals of incredible power who Vuul has seen fit to implant part of himself onto in order to keep them under his influence. These usually range from the avatars of seers to reknown fighters and spellcasters to demigods who could resist the God's control. To corrupt them, Vuul fuses symbiotically to them resulting in a hybrid between the old creature and Vuul himself. Once properly converted, Vuul will break away from his newest creation and have an empowered being bound to his will. The Avatars vary in their ability, inheriting a mix of Vuul's powers as well as their own abilities prior to corruption. Their appearance usually results in a 50/50 mix between Vuul and their prior appearance. These avatars act as a sort of royal emissary/agent for Vuul, who personally sends them to take care of problems important to him varying from diplomatic missions to assassinations. As literal incarnations of the Snake God, they are held in high respect by his worshipers who will commonly bow before the great creatures and refer to them as Vuul. Their naming scheme usually begins with Vuul as a prefix followed by a secondary name to differentiates them (example Vuul Ryukhan). Example of the Avatar Ryukhan: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/39140424/
The Head Inquisitor is a personal assistant to Vuul-Khan who manages the activities of the Inquisitors in his name. The position is currently held by Aliaa, a malevolent goo anubian who was supposedly was the first mortal who came willingly to Vuul at the Temple of Askar. She relishes converting mortals and having them see her master's pure intentions for the world. She typically sports an persian egyptian like garb typical of many inquisitors fashioned with eye-themed jewelry. Example of Aliaa: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/50783506/
There are several other positions in his personal council which I might update and add information to in the future if people find this lore interesting !
The Hand of Vuul
aka The Cult of Vuul which all members above are a part of.
The Council of Venom is a group of corrupted goo nagas who serve as the legion's generals. This war council operates semi-independently from Vuul as they arrange new tactics and strategies to capture and convert new cities and kingdoms unto their master's dominion (their soldiers and servants tend to have colour themed changes). These generals tend to lead the front lines in invasions, their massive naga bodies towering over their soldiers as their enemies are overwhelmed by sheer might. Being corrupted mortals, they tend to carry over some of the traits from their old species such as fur, feathers, horns etc into their new reborn state. An example of one of the Taraken's corrupted character: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/51381632/ who's legions are vermillion rather than gold.
The Praefecti are Vuul's province administrators who meet to discuss who best to utilize resources and control unrest in the conquered provinces to best manage Vuul's growing empire. These skilled ministers appear as normal corrupted disciples and are more skilled in logistics and management than combat. They are a key component to the efficiency of Vuul's conquests. Together with the council of Venom and the Close Attendants, they form the Hand of Vuul which regularly meets together to push numerous agendas and intrigue.
The Inquisitors
those who prove themselves will be elevated to the Cult of Vuul as Praefecti or members of the Council of Venom.
The Arbiters act as sort of judges and keep the peace within Vuul's empire. They are in charge of dispensing punishment to those who would act against Vuul's vision and/or disturb the peace in the empire. They stamp out any thoughts of heresy or derision towards their god and ensure that all the disciples stay loyal to Vuul-Khan. They resemble normal worshipers.
The Magistrates act similar to the praefecti but on a local matter enforcing Vuul's laws on the disciples and newly conquered populations going through the assimilation process. They are symbols of order among the worshipers and will hear out the concerns of disciples to address problems within their communities. They resemble normal worshipers and act as "representatives" of sorts for their communities when obtaining an audience with the Vuul-Khan himself.
The Venators are a sort of hunter which searches and destroys opposition to Vuul-Khan by converting mortals still holding out within the empire. These inquisitors tend to hunt for rebels in packs and efficiently root out unrest across the empire as well as swelling the legion's numbers with new "recruits" who are forcibly converted at their clutches. They resemble normal worshipers but tend to be more physically imposing or agile to be able to defeat those who would resist them.
The Worshipers
The Disciples are worshipers directly under the banner of Vuul-Khans expanding empire and the foundation of his power. The more mortals are bound to Vuul through body and mind, the more powerful the snake deity becomes... hence why we constantly hungers for more. At first, many lost venerites came to be willingly corrupted by the newly arisen Vuul with a sort of baptism with the snake god's goo. While this gave Vuul a power boost at first, he hungered to unite all mortals under his banner. His legions began to invade nearby provinces, the inquisitors converting and assimilating the populations of the conquered into new disciples whether willingly or forced. With each passing moment, the snake god grows more powerful as his forces steamroll over the fragmented kingdoms too busy bickering with themselves to oppose him until its too late. It is important to note that these disciples are still themselves after corruption, but instead have been implanted with unwavering loyalty to the snake god. Their appearance is marked by being covered in black/gold goo with sleek silver hair. Example of the Conversion Process: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31471418/
The Lost Venerites are a group of mortals who are dedicated to the sacrifice of Vuul-Khan in the form of the pacifist religion established after the end of the Murkmite invasion. Like the corrupted worshipers of Vuul they believe in a unified and peaceful world as Vuul had envisioned, but many are skeptical of the intentions of the Corrupted Vuul who rose 10 years later. They are viewed as heretics by the disciples of Vuul, but will usually submit to Vuul's forces willingly and betray their comrades as many were forced into the shadows for their beliefs in the many warring kingdoms of Nuverta.
