Here's a little color vomit for anyone who struggles with colors. This is all -incredibly- surface level as far as my actual thought process goes, but they're all things you can keep in mind as you practice working with colors. I avoided touching on saturation, luminosity, hue, etc. as they get convoluted very quickly, and their variations can be somewhat case specific. Just know that it takes lots of observation and "3D thinking," i.e. considering the object as a 3D form that has several planes, each affected by light in a unique way. There's plenty of videos you can find that expound on planes and lighting, I recommend Sycra.
I could type here forever about colors but I'll put a cap on it for now. Enjoy.

Thank you!
Blending can be tricky, especially depending on the type you're going for. If you want smooth it comes down to what the program can do (I personally use Clip Studio Paint). You can also blend using only strokes and varying the color slightly with each stroke, sometimes I use that for the later stages of my pieces. What I did here is kind of a combination where I used lots of different colors, but I have a textured brush that actively blends as I paint. It really comes down to practice though! π

Colors, especially rendering, are truly tricky, and I think it's because there's really no real "right" way to do them. I will always recommend to people to pick a few colors for a pieces and strictly work with them, then branch out as you figure out placement, shadows, etc. Just keep at it, you'll pick up little tricks as you practice! And thank you! π
