Yosh had started to understand some of the Pokemon’s language as he went about his journeys. He was neither human nor Pokemon. He did not even count as a full-fledged wild, or sentient, animal. He was what he was and he did what he did in search of a life free of having Poke Balls thrown at him.

The dino-duck did his best to keep up with the conversation going on within the flooded cave his Pokemon, along with the DUCKLETT and FARFETCH’D were hiding out in. TOGETIC stayed with Yosh to keep him calm while also doing his part in trying to bridge the communication gap between the green-and-white dino-duck and the many talking Pokemon.
“We can’t just hide here forever,” one said.
“We’re all weak to that RAICHU!” cried another. “He was a human’s Pokemon and just as stubborn!”
TOGETIC perched on Yosh’s arm and released some calming sparkles. The level of love and friendship was not high in this gathering of cave-dwelling, water-type Pokemon.
“He can’t touch me!” boomed BAYLEEF.
“Didn’t he toss you like a pebble into the lake?” a skeptical member of the group stated bluntly. “Once you’re wet, he’ll shock you silly!”
“That’s if his goons don’t make you wet first,” the shiny DUCKLETT said thoughtfully. “Though it may not necessarily matter if you may be able to help us get a clear shot at that RAICHU.”
“I think I see where you are going,” the FARFETCH’D stated while swinging about his long sword-like leak. “I ride upon BAYLEEF until I can land a direct hit on the RAICHU. The AZUMARILL will use their water attacks on BAYLEEF, but they will not get the glory of seeing you get soaked in the pond as I will get the upper-hand on that brute!”
“And what if you don’t?” a skeptical SPEAROW inquired. “My brother was shocked into a coma when he evolved to take on that RAICHU!”
“Then we shall not fail,” the FARFETCH’D stated. “That is, if you are with me, BAYLEEF?”
Yosh’s BAYLEEF nodded.

“I’ll handle the onlookers,” stated KINGDRA upon exiting his ball. “I’ve trained for this moment and now it’s time to show what I’ve truly got!”
Yosh was surprised as he started to more-and-more understand what the Pokemon were saying and which Pokemon was saying it. This made his TOGETIC glow a warm pinkish-red color that seemed to not only relax Yosh, but the tension felt in the crowded meeting area within the damp, moss-covered cave.

The next day, Yosh strolled alongside BAYLEEF as FARFETCH’D kept as hidden away as possible through TOGETIC’s faerie abilities. Sure enough, upon reaching the lake, the RAICHU and his AZUMARILL appeared to fight over the territory.

BAYLEEF swung her top leaf to fire off her ‘Razor Leaf’ attack towards the AZUMARILL. They, in turn, responded with twin bursts of ‘Hydro Pump’.
ZAP-CRACKLE
The RAICHU prepared to use its ‘Thunder Bolt’ upon the saturated BAYLEEF. However, amidst the excitement, it was not paying enough attention to FARFETCH’D until it felt a massive ‘Slam’ attack upon it by the duck’s sword-like leak.
The AZUMARILL tried to respond, but BAYLEEF was already using its ‘Vine Whip’ to toss them into the water. It was here that Yosh’s KINGDRA awaited them with its ‘Ice Beam’.

The battle waged on for about five minutes. However, through Yosh and TOGETIC, the fight was brought down to the true contenders. These being FARFETCH’D and RAICHU.
The boss RAICHU went to use his ‘Psychic’, but the previous ‘Slam’ to the head resulted in a costly delay that provided FARFETCH’D a chance to use ‘Brave Bird’, and ‘Aerial Ace’ to stun and stagger the powerful leader of the rodents.
“FARFETCH’D!” it proclaimed while performing a ‘Swords Dance’ that was followed by it turning white and evolving into its noble form, SIRFETCH’D. The RAICHU tried to respond with a ‘Thunder Wave’, but SIRFETCH’D new shield blocked the attack before it hit the overwhelmed opponent with a well struck ‘Cut’ and ‘Slash’ attack.
“RAI…,” the rodent leader struggled to say as it felt dizzy. “Chu…”

The RAICHU awoke to TOGETIC offering its healing abilities to him. Apparently, while he recovered, a lot of talking was going on and the truth behind his past had become revealed.
PICHU evolved to PIKACHU and was quite happy knowing he could continue to grow without the fear of exposure to any ‘Thunder Stones’. Unfortunately his trainer was struggling to win one of the Alolan gyms and, upon learning of how RAICHU in the Alolan area gaining psychic powers, quickly forced a ‘Thunder Stone’ and series of ‘TMs’ upon him. This allowed him to win the battle for his trainer, but the trainer soon after quit on their Pokemon Journey and released all of his Pokemon to fend for themselves.
RAICHU, of all the Pokemon, was hurt the most. He felt he had given up everything for his trainer and, now, his trainer left him in a form he never wanted to be in. So, being the strongest of the group, he lead a LAPRAS to this island and vowed to to never be hurt by anyone ever again.
Sadly, some of his own Pokemon pals defected while he struggled with his newly acquired psychic powers. He started to go wild and assert himself as the alpha for the rodent-type Pokemon in the area. This may not have been so bad if there wasn’t one perfect source of drinking water. Confused by his traumas, RAICHU turned against all Pokemon who he did not command. Not even a former SPEAROW friend, who evolved to FEAROW, could stop him.
Hope later came from another outcast. This being a FARFETCH’D leading a group of lost DUCKLETT to the island in search of a haven away from the humans who abandoned them. It wasn’t long until they found the lake, encountered RAICHU, and the rest was history until this day.
Feeling some sense knocked into him, RAICHU felt it best that he leave the island. He did not wish to be where he had allowed himself to be a tyrant. SIRFETCH’D echoed this decision as he felt a renewed sense of justice that called him to find others who may require his aid in being freed from fear and tyranny.
Needless to say, both offered themselves to Yosh who, with encouragement from BAYLEEF and TOGETIC, used two Poke Balls to add them into his roster. It was now time to go and an ominous feeling in the air called to Yosh and his Pokemon to return to The Orange Islands.
