I do a lot of name brainstorming at http://www.behindthename.com

I like them better than most baby names places, and while they're not exactly a scholarly source, they seem a little more accurate on meanings than some sites.

I also pick names I kind of like but don't want to use, like, say he looks like a Victor, but I don't want to use a name quite that normal. Then I write them backwards (in this case Rotciv) and work from there to invent a new name, probably adding or changing a few letters, etc.

I have other tricks too if you're still stuck. I take naming very seriously
