Want to know how I did the custom type in my last sub, DJ Alloud? Here's how.
Step 1) Draw out your text, simple and easy, obviously in whatever font or design you choose. I did this step in blue planning pencil to show what comes next.
Step 2) Now, beforehand, you have to have at least some idea of what you want to use to customise your text. For my submission I did for
alloud, I took into account that he makes music, thus basing the design off simple visualiser bars. Now, over your light and simple text structure, draw your design also lightly. I used my standard black pencil to do this.
Step 3) Now, for me, what I did was to erase whatever of the design, in my case the bars, that was outside of my drawn letterforms, thus creating the image shown. I darkened the lines and left my blue pencil marks there to show the differences.
Now, you can use this method to create your own typefaces~!
