fixerdragon
Joren: In the crumbling, water-logged cavern. You look back and see your mentor, the most powerful wizard you know, exhausted with holding back the might of the dread dragon Ixerargon. He pleads with you to flee as he uses the last of his arcane power to hold it at bay and open a portal behind you.
Zipa: "This wizard is dumb, he could kill dragon easy."
Joren: "The portal is unstable, you must escape! So there is still hope for the future."
Nippit: "No want master to die! I attack."
A roll of dice, and Nippit does 2 damage with his magic missile.
Ruttik: "I have a plan, can you get the wizard staff?"
Zipa: "I sneak next to wizard and steal staff."
Dice rolled. A success.
Joren: You make it to your mentor, the dragons jaws snap on him as you arrive and grab his magical staff, It's in your hands but the magic flickers as the life fades from your mentor's eyes. You see only the pained expression of failure as he now believes you to have died here, the portal is closing! You have but moments left to escape as the dragon's maw open and you see the furnace glow of fire in the back of his giant maw"
Ruttik: "Give the staff to Nippit"
Zipa throws the staff and Nippit catches it.
Joren: "You have the staff, but it knows you are not its master, it does not respond to you."
Nippit: "It okay, I have use magic device, I use it blindly."
Nippit rolls high enough to do that.
Joren rolls on the table.
Joren: "Okay, transmute rock to mud."
Ruttik: "Great, use it on the ceiling."
Joren: "The ceiling turns to mud and splashes down on Ixeragon. He howls in rage and is about to incinerate you."
Ruttik: "My turn first, I use the scroll of mud to rock mentor gave us."
Joren: "Okay, he's failed his reflex save but with his draconic might he'll soon be free of this weak stone prison."
Zipa: "I kick in fragile wall that had water behind it on my turn!"
Joren: "Okay, you kick in the wall, collapsing the cave and flooding it with lake water from above, it rushes in flooding the room. It's the dragon's turn to break free now and... Wait."
Joren flicks through some rulebooks "The rushing water pushes you all back, through the portal which is open for one more turn and you are jettisoned out into the city streets."
Nippit: "Yay! Does dragon get out?"
Joren: "Of course with his terrifying power. Wait. penalty for rock."
Several failed dice rolls and a sigh, Joren wishes he still had his DM screen.
"The dread dragon Ixeragon is defeated, drowned underwater in the secret cave where he was hidden away from an unsuspecting world."
The party cheers in triumph. Zipa gets up on the table and dances. "How much XP we get for that?"
Joren mourns the loss of the 10 level campaign he had built to avenge their mentor and defeat the dread dragon, beaten at level one in the introductory game.
