Chilling to some music in the sunny weather
Well it's been a month since I last posted anything, but rest assured that I have been keeping up with my daily art practice (Currently on day 430!)
This is a scene that I've wanted to draw since back when I first started drawing; a character chilling out on a tree branch in a nice forest. Unfortunately back then I didn't have the know-how to draw a character OR a forest.. so I had to wait a bit until I got better.
The past week I've been practicing drawing trees in more detail than my usual 'brown blurry stick with green on top', I'm still not too great at it and there's a lot I'd like to improve on, but I've definitely made progress! I've been taking a lot of inspiration from the trees in stuff like Disney's 'Brother Bear', which has gorgeous forest scenery that I remember noticing even as a small kid who never usually cared about that stuff, along with the video game 'Ori and the Blind Forest', which also features very beautiful nature environments in areas like Thornfelt Swamp.
I have mixed feelings on the shading overall in this drawing, I think when I try doing too 'realistic' shading it tends to get a little muddy looking, which is something I would definitely like to work on in the future once I can pinpoint exactly where/how the issue occurs, but as I said I'm happy with my progress thus far. :D Perhaps I'll do another forest image in the near future with both Alex and Seth, I'd like to do something perhaps involving water, since that seems like a fun challenge to try drawing.
Anyways that's it, see you soon!
BUT WAIT! I just remembered something, I just got a new tablet! I am now using the Huion Kamvas 20 (not pro), having upgraded from the Huion GT-190. It's taken some getting used to since now I'm working with a textured screen, but I'm loving this tablet so far! There's some pretty hefty ghosting when moving high contrast stuff around but I'm not really bothered about that kind of stuff, other than that it's lovely! I no longer have to strain my eyes to see past the reflections when my room gets sunny in the afternoons, so even just that makes it worth the upgrade. :D
ok bye now

It's great to see your work again Super. I love the detail you've put into this scene. The depth of the scenes with the blue sky in the background really gives a sense of size. The little intricacies of the moss on the branches, the plant against the background, the little vines, the way the grass is growing against the rock, even the mushrooms adds character to setting. Once again, your use of lighting really sets a warm relaxing ambience. Your character looks so fluffy and chilled out, also nice work on the ruffling of his clothes to his pose. Your style keeps on improving with every picture and this one is fantastic. GREAT work 😀⭐⭐⭐⭐👍
