Meet Raziel (or "Razz") the Funky, Nuke York's hottest musical sensation, founder, and de facto cultural anchor. 135 years young, and still jammin' like the 90's never ended, this dino's anything but a fossil.
Starting life as a haven for those displaced by the Fusion, the place that went on to be called Nuke York had a history of being one of the safer havens to live in, thanks to the tactically-advantageous terrain and stable conditions. A rock and roll raptor by the name of Raziel “Razz” the Funky, having honed his craft since the 1990’s (making him 135 years young, as of 2120), set up shop as the haven’s premiere form of entertainment in order to boost morale.
As this haven grew in stature and stability enough to become a proper city, it needed an identity to cling to; Razz's growing fanbase and status as the city’s biggest attraction led to him being given the honor of naming the place.
Thus, it was christened Nuke York, despite having nothing to do with nukes and being nowhere near the ruins of New York City. When questioned on why he chose this name, Razz shrugged and said “Why not? It’s a cool-sounding name.”
Can’t argue with that.
Razz’s influence over the city soon manifested in its cultural aesthetic; despite the population mostly consisting of people who either weren’t alive during the 90’s or are native to VolRei, the population eagerly embraced the loud, decadent ways characteristic of the period. Your average citizen is named something like Dreadspike or Kid Neon for humans/anthro, and Raster or Hexbrain for synths.
The city’s primary exports are artistic in nature: Razz and an army of other bands sharing the 90’s Revival (or “Dinocore”) genre, along with a movement of artists selling work they're dissatisfied with under the pseudonym of "Bob Ryefield".
The latter has found a lot of buyers, simply because irony still sells.
