Lupe sighed, trying not to be depressed, as she looked out over the woods. In the distance, she could see the city, that point where the wild and the civilized worlds met. Normally, she would have been happy that people were living their lives again, but she was very much aware of how the modern was pushing out her preferred world, the world she'd fought to protect for all these years.

And yet, she couldn't argue that the modern didn't have its conveniences. Her gear, upgraded by that young fox, worked better than her old, and she felt rested and relaxed more than she had before, thanks to his 'zero-g' bed pod that allowed her to literally sleep anywhere, without fear of bugs biting her while she rested, and without straining her back sleeping on hard wood or stone.

Her body chose that moment to remind her of another bit of tech she carried, as her stomach growled out, and she reached to her hip, and pushed a few buttons. Her hand then held out, and soon she was holding a burger in her hand, as if it had just come from one of the shops in the city, hot and fresh. She smiled at that, remembering those days when she had to spend half the day hunting and gathering on these patrols.

Of course, she wasn't always the best with tech, and today was no different for her, as something was...off about her meal. Not that she noticed, as she opened her mouth, and the burger in her hand seemed to react, squirming imperceptibly in her hand, as she gently pushed it into her maw, and then, with a sudden clack of teeth, swallowed the thing down whole, smiling, and wondering why her belly tickled for a moment, before returning to the patrol, which she hoped to complete tonight.
