I know that aircraft carriers are lightly armed, I was assuming that it’s fleet would be able to give it adequate protection. Why exactly would the creature disrespect its own country by eating its equipment?

She didn’t. He said she could as in she’s physically capable, not that she would. She is actually very protective of the ships and aircraft in the fleet she’s part of.
